Do you ever get in the mood, when you are scrolling through your large digital music collection, to listen to something different? …something that stands out? Well I do too. Therefore, I introduce you to… ‘Indie Funk’.

I do not know if the term has been coined yet, but it seems extremely fitting for my latest musical interest, ‘The Astroids Galaxy Tour’. This danish band plays dance-able funky music that will neither make VH1′s Classic Masters or Pitchfork’s Top 100 albums of the year. Mette Lindberg’s vocals (and the respective effects) seem as though they would be a contemporary indie rock band’s. Not entirely emotionless, Mette does not have the soulful, climbing vocals that you would normally associate with true funk music. Instead she drives the music and emotion with a specific harshness that resonates quite cold. Her songs of social heartache and physical conquests echo this sentiment.

Fruit is a perfect example of fun, driving, new music that pushes pop closer to the edge and is, therefore, intriguing. Give it a few listens. I promise Mette’s melodies, the simple bass lines, loose percussion and background brass will bring you out of that slump and back to tapping your foot to something you love in no time.

You can buy it at lala.com.

This happened in June. I just found it now. Why would you mention a fist pump being compared to a terrorist’s gesture? This thought is a newsworthy piece of information to share with your viewers? The New York Times had the same information, NBC, CBS, NPR, CNN, all had the same information, for some reason, they didn’t feel it worthwhile to mention how some people think Obama is a terrorist because he pounds. “Terrorist Fist Jab”. They actually said it. Unbelievable. That’s what Mark Mcguire (not to mention everyone in my generation) has been doing for the last 10 years. We must all be terrorists?! “Terrorist Fist Jab.” Besides them not regarding my generation as their demographic AT ALL, I think it seems very clear that Fox News has only one real purpose. The scary thing is that some people actually believe that garbage.

I love the response that the reporters in the video I attached have. The best way to combat this ridiculousness is to mock them. To call them out and make them know how ridiculous it really is. But if I hear anything about how the media is trying to slander Palin… I swear…

we have to be out of our apartment by the end of this month. that is alright. the problem is simply we do not have a place to live yet. I am planning on living with joel stob and tyson jaspers, and there is a possibility of two different apartments, but both are kind of shitty.

1) we live where tyson is living currently. he has a large apartment, somewhere in the range of 1000-1500 sq. ft. the problem is… this is sort of a duplex and the people that we ‘share’ the house with are kind of ass holes. they play really loud (bad) music and apparently have many j.staal-ish, chotch-like tendancies.

2) we could also move up to the third story in our current apartment. this is a large apartment for not too much money. this would be great except for one thing… our land lords. they have something against joel and myself for being ‘party-boys’. this is somewhat interesting considering we have not ever thrown a party.

so this is our dilema. we shall see what happens. now it is bed time.

so i seemingly can’t make up my mind. I want to design my own blog and theoretically keep record of all of my posts, but there is so little time, I barely have time to write the posts let alone design my own. For this reason, I have really been looking at tumblr. If you have not experienced tumblr, you are missing 3rd gen. blogging tools. I am going to let it speak for itself. I suggest you set up an account (takes less than 30 sec.) and see what you think. It is extremely intuitive and clean (web 2.0). I love it…

Oh and what I have set up right now is http://aaronvanderzwan.tumblr.com. I will let you know more if I decide to officially move over to tumblr.
